  • American Heart Association (www.americanheart.org)
    The mission of the American Heart Association is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular disease and stroke. AHA offers information about heart disease, keeping your heart healthy, warning signs for heart attack, stroke, and more.
  • Association of Black Cardiologists, Inc (ABC) (www.abcardio.org)
    The Association of Black Cardiologists, Inc., is a nonprofit organization with an international membership of over 600 health care professionals.  The ABC is dedicated to eliminating the disparities related to cardiovascular disease in all people of color.  The ABC site offers a calendar of heart-health events for the public, including information on Spirit of the Heart Weekends, which are community events to combat cardiovascular disease and related risk factors.
  • Larry King Cardiac Foundation (LKCF) (www.lkcf.org)
    The mission of the Larry King Cardiac Foundation is to provide funding for life saving cardiac procedures for individuals who, due to limited means and no insurance, would be otherwise unable to receive life saving treatment.  The site offers information about cardiovascular disease, screening education and services, risk assessment, and patient stories.

    Mayo Clinic's mission to serve as a reliable source of health information.  Learn about atherosclerosis including its signs and symptoms, causes, risk factors, screening and diagnosis, complications, treatment, prevention, and when to seek medical advice.
  • Mended Hearts, Inc. (www.mendedhearts.org)
    Mended Hearts is a national nonprofit organization that has been offering the gift of hope to heart disease patients, their families and caregivers for more than 50 years. Mended Hearts partners with 460 hospitals and rehabilitation clinics and offers services to heart patients through visiting programs, support group meetings, and educational forums. 
  • Men’s Health Network (MHN) (www.menshealthnetwork.org)
    A national nonprofit organization whose mission is to reach men and their families where they live, work, play, and pray with health prevention messages and tools, screening programs, educational materials, advocacy opportunities, and patient navigation.
  • National Alliance for Hispanic Health (NAHH) (www.hispanichealth.org)
    The National Alliance for Hispanic Health aims to improve the health and well being of Hispanics. NAHH offers a number of health resources, community information, and an action forum where visitors can learn about key happenings in the medical world.
  • National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) (www.nbna.org)
    NBNA’s mission is to provide a forum for collective action by African-American nurses to investigate, define and determine what the health care needs of African Americans are and to implement change to make available to African Americans and other minorities health care commensurate with that of the larger society.
  • National Latina Health Network  (NLHN) (www.nlhn.net)
    The National Latina Health Network is a nonprofit organization that addresses critical health concerns affecting Latinas and their families.  NLHN develops innovative health programs that help foster well-being and health behavior and attitudes within the nation’s Latino communities, and establishes and promotes leadership and community health partnerships nationwide. The site offers a calendar of health-related events, resources, and news updates.
  • National Medical Association (NMA) (www.nmanet.org)
    NMA’s mission is to advance the art and science of medicine for people of African descent through education, advocacy, and health policy to promote health and wellness, eliminate health disparities, and sustain physician viability. The site offers resources to educate patients and the public about various diseases and conditions affecting patients.
  • Peripheral Arterial Disease (P.A.D.) Coalition (www.padcoalition.org)  
    The P.A.D. Coalition is an alliance of leading health organizations, vascular health professional societies, and government agencies that have united to raise public and health professional awareness about lower extremity P.A.D. The site aims to educate the public on Peripheral Arterial Disease, what it is and its relation to diabetes, smoking, and high blood pressure. The site also offers a number of patient education resources.

    PCNA is the leading nursing organization dedicated to preventing cardiovascular disease (CVD) through assessing risk, facilitating lifestyle changes, and guiding individuals to achieve treatment goals. 
  • Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) (www.womenshealthresearch.org)
    SWHR is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health of all women through research, education and advocacy.  Aligning with their mission, SWHR offers health information specific to women including health facts, policies and events. 
  • US AGAINST ATHERO (UAA) (www.athero.com | www.laatero.com)   
    UAA is a movement sponsored by AstraZeneca to increase our nation's awareness of atherosclerosis with hopes that all Americans will take steps to take care of their arteries. Through education and information, UAA supports people in becoming advocates for their own health and for the health of others. The site offers the Artery Explorer video – a virtual journey through the arteries – and educational video blogs from health care professionals. Consumers can also sign up for the Athero IQ Program to get more information about managing atherosclerosis and cholesterol, such as risk factor education, healthy lifestyle tips, and questions to ask your doctor.
  • Vascular Disease Foundation (VDF) (www.vdf.org)
    The Vascular Disease Foundation (VDF) focuses on providing public education and improving awareness about vascular disease.  The site provides disease information, health related news and events, as well as interactive learning tools such as live chats with doctors, discussion bulletin boards and healthCasts.  HealthCasts are VDF’s version of the popular podcast.
  • WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease (www.womenheart.org)
    The mission of WomenHeart is to improve the health and quality of life of women living with or at risk of heart disease, and to advocate for their benefit.  The site shares information about heart disease and keeping your heart healthy, focusing specifically on the needs of women.
