Closing the Gap on Health Care Disparities
We're working to close the gap on health disparities
Overview
At AstraZeneca, we’re working to address major health disparities across the country—one state at a time.
Five Closing the Gap sessions have been held around the country, each led by a state legislator who is passionate about addressing the health care disparities in their state. Specific sessions have focused on addressing asthma, mental health and cardiovascular disease within the African American and Hispanic communities.
Purpose
These sessions are intended for policy makers and anyone who is interested in understanding more about the huge disparities that face African American and Hispanic communities. They're intended to inform, but more important, to bring about change as well.
Progress has already been made in these areas. To date four resolutions have been introduced—each including specific action items needed to increase education and awareness about health disparities at the state and local level.
State Reports
The reports listed below are based on presentations and discussions at the five Closing the Gap sessions. They include both findings shared by keynote speakers and open conversations among panel members. They also include synopses of discussions among community participants and recommendations on closing the health care disparities gaps in each state.
