What is a Political Action Committee?
A Political Action Committee (PAC) is a term used to describe an organized group funded by employee contributions to support federal and state political candidates, and elected officials.  A PAC's funding, by law, comes solely/exclusively from the voluntary contributions of its members.  PACs can represent corporations, labor unions, membership organizations, or trade associations.   (See Federal Election Commission web site)

How Does AZ PAC Work?
AstraZeneca employees in the U.S. may choose to make voluntary contributions to the AstraZeneca PAC, an entity funded solely by employee contributions. AZPAC donations are made in accordance with a budget, which is determined annually by the AZ PAC Board. AZ PAC support is divided equally between federal and state level, and allocated among various candidates according to specific recommendations from the company’s government affairs organization and employee PAC members.

  • All required disclosures of AZ PAC political financial support are made to the federal election commission and state election commissions, typically on a quarterly basis. All disclosures required outside the United States are also made in accordance with local law.
  • The company does not refund or reimburse employees who make contributions to the PAC, or (directly) to political parties or candidates.
